I Team Naming Convention

Please follow this convention when naming your teams in Sport Affinity. This helps identify a team year over year as it moves up in age groups, and provides consistency for team managers and club admins to easily identify opponents.

Special Cases & Tips
  • New U9 teams (2024–25 season) are 2016 birth year.
    • Example: Greenwich B2016 Red (U9)
  • U8 teams playing up in the U9 league should use the 2017 birth year.
    • Example: Stamford G2017 Black
    • If the team is predominantly 2017 birth year, use that descriptor — it distinguishes them from true U9 teams.
  • All U14/U15 teams should use both birth years.
    • Example: Norwalk G2010/2011 White (U14/15)
  • All other age levels — use a single birth year, even if some players are playing up by choice.
  • Combined age groups — if you must merge two age groups to field a team and at least 50% are playing up by necessity (not by choice), you may indicate both birth years.
    • Example: Wilton G2012/2013 White (U13)
    • This typically applies to smaller clubs that need to merge age groups to fill a roster.
II CJSA Age Groups — 2026–27
NOTE: Starting with the 2026–27 seasonal year, the birthday cutoff has changed from December 31st to August 1st. Age groups are now determined by a birth date window of August 1 through July 31.

U14 Aug. 1, 2012 – July 31, 2013
